PAULINE: Release and Live Reamp
PAULINE is played in its complete forty-minute form. Like KATALIN, it belongs to radioPHØNIX, whose sound sculptures emerged from compositions distributed in parts to radio stations and reassembled through the conditions of broadcast and reception.
A new person is entrusted with the faders. The finished sculpture passes through new hands, loudspeakers and the acoustics of THE CHAPEL before microphones record it again. This recording is not an incidental document of the release; it becomes another state of PAULINE. The work appears only on 1 October during nine_days
PHØNIX SESSION
PHØNIX makes a live recording in the WHITE ROOM (Lausitzer Straße 30) with an audience present. The session keeps preparation to what the recording itself requires. It is not a concert format moved into the festival; listeners share the concentration, risk and immediacy of a recording being made in real time.
KATALIN: release and live reamp
KATALIN is one of the eight forty-minute sound sculptures of radioPHØNIX, a project by Timo Kreuser and PHØNIX16. Its compositions were divided into forty-eight parts, distributed through radio stations around the world and reassembled through transmission, reception, interference, delay and dropout.
For nine_days, the finished KATALIN sculpture is entrusted to a new person at the faders and played in full through THE CHAPEL. Live diffusion becomes an interpretation: the person at the desk is responsible for how the work reaches the loudspeakers and moves through the room. Microphones capture the result so that the release also becomes a reamp and a new recording.
Vocal Circuit 01
Speaking Circuit is a new concert series born out of PHONIX16’s studio lab sessions. It merges Saussure’s “speech circuit” with the broader idea of the circuit as a closed, dynamic loop. In Saussure’s model, speech is never a one-way act: a concept becomes sound, travels physically through space, and is decoded by another body before looping back as a new response. This continual exchange links psychological association, physiological action, acoustic transmission, and cognitive interpretation—an interdependent system of emitters and receivers. In this sense, speaking itself is already a circuit: a flow of signals routed through bodies, air, and shared meaning.
Speaking Circuit expands this loop into the electroacoustic realm. Here, the voice is reimagined as an oscillator, filter, and feedback node—an instrument patched into laryngeal transducers, talk boxes, resonant cavities, tactile interference, and cognitive filtering. The vocal tract becomes structurally parallel to microphones, loudspeakers, and signal paths, turning the body into an open, modular system where sound is produced, shaped, and recirculated. Emitter and receiver roles continually shift, forming a dynamic network of spatial sound sources and resonant bodies. Speaking Circuit stages this hybrid system in performance: a feedback-driven choreography of voice, technology, and the circulating energies between them.

radioPHØNIX Public Listening PAULINE & IVO
Radio is a big global electronic organism, a large body of loudspeakers, microphones, transmitters and receivers, a mega instrument ready to be used. This is what radioPHØNIX is.
There is information, word and sound, but there are also – in a far more substantial way – waves, frequencies, signals and noises.What happens if every aspect of this socio-technological complex called radio is considered an instrument, a means of expression, a toy we can play with instead of applying ourselves to its traditional functions? What happens if we attack this centennial old apparatus with strategies of reinterpretation and give it new meanings?
radioPHØNIX is a series by Timo Kreuser & PHØNIX16 in collaboration with radio stations worldwide. In sound installations, they deal with phenomena of radiophonic practice. For the workshop they invite organisations, artists and the public to experiment on radio and sound, exchange concepts and produce material for future public listening events.

The radiophønix workshop is a time of sharing. We would like to open the process and share our artistic practice with you, and vice versa invite you to share your knowledge and your curiosity with us. Radio reception and transmission can be tools of artistic processing if different formats, compressions and latencies are considered as strategies of sound manipulation.
Together with you, we want to build a live electronic radiophonic instrument which functions as an interface between the world of waves and the sound systems we will install in silent green.
